The road out
Out of London to the M20 and across on the Eurotunnel shuttle at Folkestone. A van crosses cheaply and quickly and the driver stays with it, which on a short run makes the shuttle the obvious choice over a ferry.
From Calais the A16 runs north and becomes the E40 across the Belgian border, past Bruges and Ghent to Brussels. Antwerp branches north on the E17 and E34; Leuven and Liège continue east on the E40 beyond the capital.
